Torrid (Sordid #2) by Nikki Sloane

Nikki Sloane can write. Now before I do my review, just let say, that this is nothing like Sordid, which isn’t a bad thing. For some, it may even be a good thing. While I loved Sordid, and it’s questionable morals, some didn’t. Which is understandable.

So if your steering clear due to the first, no worries, this one is dark, but not dubious consent dark.

I genuinely liked Oksana, while she was in over her head, she still held her own.

“I might not outsmart the devil, but I was willing to deal with him.”

Everyone has a agenda, including Oksana. She is betraying everyone while trying to make an ally, and keep herself alive.

It’s tricky, and a satisfying plot.

Vasilije is a great anti-hero, he’s cold, ruthless, and bit selfish, but he also has some redeeming qualities, which makes for a believable romance.

It was sexy and suspenseful.

Why 4 stars? It was a bit repetitive at times.

Bombshell (Hollywood A-List #1) by C.D. Reiss

I think I’ve given every book that I have read by  C.D Reiss’s books 5 stars, except this one.  Now If you know this author, she is pretty clear that her books are NOT safe.

This book is kind of safe. This is a sweet book. I got goosebumps in the epilogue. I never get goosebumps. I love how Brad grows into fatherhood, and the support he received for doing what was right.

Brad is an actor who is a playboy, but he’s also a country boy who you can’t help but fall love with.  He’s living the dream until he finds out he has a daughter. A daughter who just lost her mother and is in need of some love and support.

No Nanny will do, it has to be Cara. Cara is laid back, she’s kind of go with the flow. She loves her job. She tries to stay out of the limelight because of past history. So she made a rule, never nanny for celebrities. It’s for her protection, one wrong move and your on the front page.

Cara decides to break her rule, because let’s face it, Brad needs the help, and she can’t say no. Even though she keeps picturing him naked.

Now that really what this book is about. A Nanny who didn’t stand a chance, and an actor who has his world turned upside down by a little girl named Nicole.

The sex is steaming, the feels are good, and all in it was a cute book. For some this will be a 5 star read, for me its 3.5 , I liked it 🙂

The Hot Shot (Game On #4) by Kristen Callihan ***

Holy toothache that was sweet.

giphy

Like almost too sweet.

I have loved this series since book one, so it was inevitable that I find one that I didn’t  like.

eh

It took me almost a week to read this book, and most of the time I devour a book in a day.

Now before I get into why, this wasn’t a fave. Let me explain why it might be yours. I loved Chess and Finn.

They have an easy banter between them, that kept me engaged and entertained. I loved the way they met. They are also sexy together.

The dirty talk came from Chess which was an interesting take, that I loved.

Finn is adorable, and love sick.

It’s not that I didn’t like it because I did, I didn’t enjoy it as well as the others.

I was bored, I don’t know why it seemed to drag on for me, it just did.

There was something missing, or maybe it was just too much sweetness.

I’m not sure if this is as a spoiler or not because we all know the couple is going to have some form of fight, but the fight confused me. I read it twice, like what just happened?

Not my favorite, but it may be yours.

Tormentor Mine (Tormentor Mine #1) by Anna Zaires & Dima Zales

“There is no beauty without ugliness, just as there’s no happiness without sorrow. We live in a world of contrasts, not absolutes.”

I love this author writing, I devoured this book. Usually, too much inner dialogue drives me crazy, but it worked.

It all worked for me.

Peter is the best kind of Anti-hero, his obsession is downright romantic.

“I want her. It’s completely irrational, and wrong on so many levels, but I want her.”

I like how one minute I’m rooting for Sara, and the next I’m happy she got caught.

I liked Sara she was strong and smart. She knew she had no options, and she did what she had to do.

I think all dark readers will love this book, even those who aren’t will probably enjoy this on some level.

Good stuff.

Where Good Girls Go to Die (Good Girls #1) by Holly Renee

This is one of those books, that the blurb told me I was going to love it, and well…..

giphy2

I was in a horrible book slump, so I tried the whole cheating thing. Sometimes I venture out.

Now the cheating didn’t bother me.

I originally gave this 3 stars, but now I that I’m trying to write a review, I can’t think of anything nice to say…..

 no-words

If you don’t have anything nice to say……

Why was she a stripper?

Buy Me, Sir by Jade West

I used to be obsessed with Jade West, not like Melissa is with  Alexander because that chick is coo coo.

crazy

I mean I was uncomfortable, and that’s saying something.

Alexander is into some hard core shit, but Melissa wants what he wants, she will do anything just to have him.

So basically we have 2 types of crazies who fall in love and have some kinky sex.

Now  Jade West can write a damn sex scene.

My problem wasn’t so much the writing or even the plot, it was just long.

Like way too long.

I was skimming to get to the good stuff. tenor

I know, I know party foul.

So it’s a solid 3 stars for me, long story but sexy nonetheless.

Pushing Her Limits (Masters of Adrenaline #3)

3 stars for the story, 5 for the smut

Somehow I missed the first 2 book in this series, but I didn’t feel lost.

I enjoy BDSM and I love a sadist, and Altas was a great Sadist.

*Note to self: Don’t look for spanking GIF unless alone or “smut”

My review skills have dwindled, I don’t know what to say about books anymore, maybe I’m lazy.

Two people on different sides of the law find love and kink.

It was a sexy book. There is knife play, NO blood. 🙂
