Torrid (Sordid #2) by Nikki Sloane

Nikki Sloane can write. Now before I do my review, just let say, that this is nothing like Sordid, which isn’t a bad thing. For some, it may even be a good thing. While I loved Sordid, and it’s questionable morals, some didn’t. Which is understandable.

So if your steering clear due to the first, no worries, this one is dark, but not dubious consent dark.

I genuinely liked Oksana, while she was in over her head, she still held her own.

“I might not outsmart the devil, but I was willing to deal with him.”

Everyone has a agenda, including Oksana. She is betraying everyone while trying to make an ally, and keep herself alive.

It’s tricky, and a satisfying plot.

Vasilije is a great anti-hero, he’s cold, ruthless, and bit selfish, but he also has some redeeming qualities, which makes for a believable romance.

It was sexy and suspenseful.

Why 4 stars? It was a bit repetitive at times.

Buy Me, Sir by Jade West

I used to be obsessed with Jade West, not like Melissa is with  Alexander because that chick is coo coo.

crazy

I mean I was uncomfortable, and that’s saying something.

Alexander is into some hard core shit, but Melissa wants what he wants, she will do anything just to have him.

So basically we have 2 types of crazies who fall in love and have some kinky sex.

Now  Jade West can write a damn sex scene.

My problem wasn’t so much the writing or even the plot, it was just long.

Like way too long.

I was skimming to get to the good stuff. tenor

I know, I know party foul.

So it’s a solid 3 stars for me, long story but sexy nonetheless.

Take Me Back by Meghan March

Kat and Dane both have secrets, and keeping them has destroyed their marriage. Now their on a vacation to fix it. 10 days on a remote island.

This is sweet, action packed, quick read.

People are going crazy of this book and I’m over here like…

eh

The back and forth from past to present  throws me off. So that could be why.

It was a little slow at first, but does pick up.

I guess my problem is I didn’t feel the connection between the Kat and Dane. I felt more of a connection between Kat and her best friend. Maybe that was the point?

It is what it is. Maybe it not you it’s me. 🙂

Venom & Ecstasy (Venom #2) by S. Williams, Shanora Williams

The first half of this book was almost too sweet for me, and it fell flat. Thankfully it did pick up. This wasn’t as sexy as the first one. I still liked it, but I can’t pinpoint where it lost stars, I really did expect more from Draco.

bored

This book is about Gianna’s road to discovery and healing. We get a lot of answers about   Draco. While I expected more from Draco, I was even more disappointed in Gianna. She was supposed to be this strong vengeful queen. She kind of just fell in line, I mean she did act out, but not for the right reasons?

As a dark reader, I expect the heroine to fuck up, I almost look forward to it.

spankdon't make that face

Gianna really took to getting in trouble to a whole new level, and it kinda of set the rest of book, leaving us with a broken heart at the end.

I loved the writing, but I hated the way it ended, but I look forward to the next book.

Eleventh Grave in Moonlight (Charley Davidson #11) by Darynda Jones

 October? With that ending?

tumblr_ncbd1dtkcz1tv4k5po1_500

I loved this book, but of course I’ve been wrapped up in this series. We got less of Reyes this go around, which wasn’t a bad thing. This is more about Charley. She is learning more about herself and becoming more self reliant.

We get to see more of Amber and of course we get to meet new people. The main case is about the Foster’s, which if you remember are the people who abducted Rayes when he was just a baby.

Rocket wasn’t in this book, which makes me sad. I love that man. We didn’t get much of Charley working with the departed, which for some reason is my favorite part.

This book left me with a lot a questions, which I hate that I have to wait till October to have answered, but it’s fine….

I seriously kept turning the page hoping for more, it was sad and pathetic, because that ending….

5 “What if I say please” Stars

Well that was unexpectedly awesome. 13562512

I got this book when it came out, and read like the first 3 pages and thought eh this might not be for me. It was on kindle unlimited so not hard no foul. Boy was I wrong. This book is right up my ally. Mystery, suspense, and some hot taboo sex.

anigif_enhanced-19719-1404844663-3

I devoured it.

Once I got past the first chapter. I was sucked in.

Elsie is digging for answers, and she will do anything to get them. Even if it means leading her professor on and forging documents. She uses her archaeology degree as a front to get the answers to her father’s disappearance.

She’s a strong heroine, which I love.

Garrett Blackwood could dirty talk the panties off of me.

“If you said ‘please’, I’d fuck you so hard that you wouldn’t be able to sit down, walk, or breathe for days without thinking of my cock inside you.”

panty-drop

He really does try to keep Red at a distance, but Red is determined to bring out the beast. I can say I didn’t see the ending. This was some good stuff.

Bound by Vengeance (Born in Blood Mafia Chronicles #5) by Cora Reilly

2.5 No connection Stars

So it looks like I may be the odd one out, but I was disappointed. fail

If I remember correctly, I didn’t really love the last book either, maybe the series is just over for me. I don’t know.

I’ve also been a bit of a book funk, my next read shelf is full of books that I own, but I haven’t been able to get into.

Growl ( hate that name), is the top hit man. Her feared, but not so much respected. He is known as the bastard child, well just bastard. There was something  endearing about him. While he was a “monster”, I wanted to hug him and show him some love.

Now Cara, she over thought everything, and I mean everything. I always have a problem with woman who bodies respond, but the mind doesn’t. Maybe because as a woman, if my brain isn’t in it, nothing is happening.

giphy1

Anyway, she spent most of the book caring what over people thought. Like really? None of those people cared about you, or helped you when life turned to shit.

Between Ms high and mighty, and Growl’s self loathing I didn’t feel a connection.

I mean maybe I’m being picky or harsh, but damn that woman. Lastly, what was with that ending?

I rounded to 3 stars because at least I finished this one. Sadly, it may just be time for me to give up on this series.
